What is Research For?
- Timecode (Mike Figgis, 2000): 4 cameras, single take
- simultaneous display of 4 weakly coded scenes: 'drawing'
- more strongly coded in respect of genres (ie we might tend to slot the film into a specific genre that may be taken from a notional menu (western, film noir, romantic comedy, ...): location in a 'roadmap'
- we may look at the sequencing of categories of shots (long, middle, close, ...): print
- or the plot: 'handwriting'
- first category foregrounded
- Russian Ark (Aleksandr Sokurov, 2002): single take, but only 1 camera
- Re-naming the categories
