- Alternative to use of grid (area comparison) is to count icons
- Numbers of photos in SMP 11-16 textbooks
- Same increase in G1 to G8 photos
- But, apparent anomalies in central tracks (B & R Series)
- However, most of the photographs in B4 and R3 are NOT used to signify their content and so are NOT iconic mode, instead, they signify photographic enlargment (and so actually an index)
