Monitoring Progress
  • Special Progress Review (IoE guidelines)

    • May be implemented (eg as an outcome of the Annual Review) where the student has failed to make progress, eg:

      • Failure to complete assignments on time

      • Consistent failure to meet negotiated deadlines

    • Three months duration (extendable by a maximum of another three month period)

    • Explicit objectives negotiated by supervisor, student, advisory committee, research tutor

    • Regular meetings between student and supervisor and fast feedback by supervisor on work submitted

    • At the end of the 3 month period, progress reviewed by student, supervisor, advisory committee and research tutor resulting in:

      • removal from special progress review status

      • student to interrupt registration (guidance provided on what is to be achieved during interruption)

      • withdrawal from registration

      • special progress review period extended for a maximum of one additional period of three months
